Mother of boys killed in hit-and-run wants to visit perpetrator in prison

The mother of two boys killed in a hit-and-run accident in Los Angeles in 2020 says she wants to meet the celebrity who killed them in prison to find out if the convicted woman feels remorse for her actions.

Nancy Iskander, whose two sons, Mark (11) and Jacob (8), were hit by Rebecca Grossman while crossing the street with their mother and younger brother, told Fox News about her desire to visit Grossman.

“I plan to visit her in prison in a few months or maybe a year and ask her that question directly,” Iskander told Fox News. “I’ll say, ‘Can you say, ‘I’m sorry I killed her?’ That will allow me to forgive, because I need to get over what she did.”

Grossman was convicted of two counts of first-degree murder and negligent homicide, as well as one count of hit-and-run in connection with the 2020 accident, according to reports from Fox 11, NBC Los Angeles and the Los Angeles Times. She was subsequently sentenced to two prison terms of 15 years to life each, to be served concurrently.

In a 2020 press release, the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office said Grossman was driving at “excessive speed” when she struck Mark and Jacob, who were at a crosswalk, and then sped away.

The Los Angeles Times had previously reported, citing evidence presented during her trial, that Grossman had consumed alcohol and Valium and had recently been racing former Major League Baseball pitcher Scott Erickson, traveling 81 miles per hour in a 45-mile zone.

Before her sentencing, Grossman had asked a judge for leniency, insisting she was not a murderer, but prosecutors rejected that in a sentencing memorandum reported by ABC 7 and Fox News.

“The defendant’s actions from September 29, 2020 to the present demonstrate a complete lack of remorse and a narcissistic sense of superiority that leads to only one conclusion, namely that she deserves no leniency whatsoever,” the memorandum states.
