FHP: 29-year-old Melbourne woman killed in crash on I-95 southbound in Sebastian

two suffered minor injuries

The Florida Highway Patrol reported that a 29-year-old Melbourne woman was killed and two others suffered minor injuries in a crash on southbound Interstate 95 in Sebastian on Friday.

BREVARD COUNTY • SEBASTIAN, FLORIDA – The Florida Highway Patrol reported that a 29-year-old Melbourne woman was killed and two others suffered minor injuries in a crash on southbound Interstate-95 in Sebastian.

According to Florida Highway Patrol Lieutenant Tara Crescenzi, the fatal accident occurred Friday afternoon at 1:43 p.m.

Lt. Crescenzi said a 2012 Chevrolet Malibu was stopped in the inside lane of I-95 with its hazard lights on and was struck by a 2021 Toyota Corolla.

The accident occurred when the driver of the Toyota Corolla, a 29-year-old woman from Melbourne, was attempting to move into the middle lane when the left front of the Toyota struck the Malibu, which then left the road and struck a guardrail. The impact caused the Corolla to overturn onto its roof.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene and his identity has not been determined pending notification of next of kin.

According to Lt. Crescenzi, a 33-year-old man from Lake Park and a 31-year-old woman from Melbourne were taken to hospital with minor injuries.
