Cambridge Police Investigate Sexual Assault in Central Square

Cambridge police are investigating a sexual assault case on Tuesday in which a person woke up in a parking lot in the city’s Central Square to find they had been attacked.

The person attacked told police that he spoke to three people in the 200 block of Franklin Street, near the Central Square branch of the Cambridge Public Library, at around 12:20 a.m., but said he could not remember what happened after the conversation, according to a statement from Cambridge Police.

The person then woke up in a parking lot in Central Square to find that he had been attacked, police said. He was taken to a hospital for treatment, police said.

Cambridge police have deployed extra patrols to the Central Square area as a precaution and are asking all residents to call 911 immediately if they feel threatened or notice any suspicious activity. Anyone with information about the attack is asked to contact police at 617-349-9151.
