The family of a Fort Lauderdale woman speaks out after her husband’s arrest in a kidnapping case in Spain

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Family members of Ana Maria Knezevich were scheduled to be addressed in the media on Wednesday following the arrest of her estranged husband earlier in the week.

Federal agents arrested 36-year-old David Knezevich at Miami International Airport after accusing him of kidnapping Ana Maria Knezevich in Spain.

She disappeared in February. Court documents outlined federal authorities’ case against David Knezevich.

“It was a very devastating time for us,” Felipe Henao, said Ana Maria Knezevich’s brother. “We are still in shock.”

He later added that his family felt a “great betrayal” over the events.

Henao, who thanked his sister’s friends and authorities, added: “I just want justice for my sister.”

A reporter asked him what he thought happened to his sister.

“I don’t know, I just want the investigators to do their job and follow the facts,” Henao replied.

Following Knezevich’s arrest, Sanna Rameau, a friend of Ana Maria Knezevich, told Local 10 News on Monday: “The only thing I can say right now is that I’m glad there was an arrest in this case, and “We hope that this is the case.” The next chapter will bring justice and we will find answers to what happened to Ana.”

David Knezevich’s attorney declined to comment on the case.
