State authorities investigate fatal accident at Disneyland

According to the Orange County Register, state authorities are investigating the death of a Disneyland employee who died Friday when she fell from a golf cart in the park and hit her head.

Bonnye Lear, 60, of Fullerton, was seriously injured June 5 when she fell from a moving golf cart in the backstage area of ​​Critter Country. Lear succumbed to her injuries Friday, officials told KTLA.


Lear was the manager of Club 33, the exclusive, members-only dining club above the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction at Disneyland.

Detectives from the Anaheim Police Department are also investigating the traffic accident.

According to the organization, Disneyland is required to report any serious injury or death to the California Division of Occupational Safety and Health (Cal/OSHA) within eight hours and to retain all evidence related to the accident.

The theme park has not announced any changes to golf cart safety protocols following the accident.

“We are heartbroken by the loss of Bonnye and extend our sincere condolences to everyone who cared for her,” Ken Potrock, president of the Disneyland Resort, said in a statement Friday.

“Our current focus is to support her family and our cast members through this tragic event and ensure they have the resources they need.”
