Police ask for help in locating man accused of stealing youth hockey jerseys – NBC Boston

Police are asking for the public’s help in locating a man who allegedly stole several youth hockey jerseys from a home in Boston’s Brighton neighborhood last month.

In an investigative update Friday, Boston police asked for the public’s help in locating Ricardo Bastos, 36, who is wanted on a Brighton District Court warrant for the May 14 burglary.

Bastos is described as 5 feet 7 inches tall, 175 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair. He drives a red Honda and is often seen in the Brighton Avenue area of Allston and Framingham, police said.

According to police, officers responded to a burglary on Murdock Street that day at about 12:12 a.m. Around that time, a man was observed entering the enclosed porch of a home with a Dunkin’ bag in his hand. Nearly an hour later, at 1:04 a.m., he returned with a McDonald’s bag. The man took eight Allston-Brighton jerseys before driving away in a Prius-like vehicle, police said.

The jerseys are valued at about $330, according to police. A representative of the Allston-Brighton youth hockey club told NBC10 Boston in a statement last month that they hope the jerseys will be returned quickly.

“It’s really unfortunate that someone would steal these items from one of our youth hockey players.”

An investigation is active and ongoing.
