Woman killed in cement mixer accident near Prescott

PRESCOTT, AZ (AZFamily) – A driver attempted to pass another driver outside of Prescott on Wednesday, resulting in a fatal crash involving a cement truck.

It happened shortly before noon.

According to the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office, a motorist was traveling north on Pioneer Parkway after getting a green light at Williamson Valley Road when another driver attempted to pass in the right lane, which was running out.

The second driver crashed into the first car, which then drove into oncoming traffic.

The driver of a cement truck tried to avoid the second car but was unable to do so and collided with it, the YCSO said.

The driver was flown to a Phoenix hospital in critical condition, YCSO said.

His wife, who was in the passenger seat, died on the way to the hospital. Her identity was not disclosed.

No one else was seriously injured.

Deputies said impairment played no role.

An investigation is ongoing.
