JD(S) leader Kumaraswamy is behind the circulation of explicit videos, claims deputy CM Shivakumar

Chikkamgaluru: Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar on Wednesday accused JD(S) leader HD Kumaraswamy of being behind the circulation of explicit videos allegedly linked to Hassan MP Prajwal Revanna and called him “King”. of Blackmail” and the “lead actor, director and producer of the story.’

Shivakumar, also Congress president in the state, reacted to Kumaraswamy’s demand for his dismissal from the Cabinet, calling him a “key conspirator” in the circulation of alleged sex videos.

The 33-year-old JD(S) MP, Kumaraswamy’s nephew, is accused of sexual abuse. The scandal triggered a political storm as the ruling Congress and the BJP-JD(S) traded blows.

While the Congress government has formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the cases, the BJP and JD(S) – NDA partners – have demanded it be handed over to the CBI.

“Kumaraswamy is fully aware of the USB flash drive (containing explicit video clips) matter. A lawyer (Devaraje Gowda) and others speak. Kumaranna (Kumaraswamy) wants me to resign, it seems there is competition for the Vokkaliga leadership. Let me resign as he wants,” Shivakumar said sarcastically.

Speaking to reporters here, he said, “Taking them one by one (politically) is his (Kumaraswamy) job. Blackmail, (Kumaraswamy is) the king of blackmail… he threatens everyone, officers, politicians, whatever else he has.” What to do? Kumaraswamy had on Tuesday claimed that 25,000 USB sticks containing videos of women who were allegedly sexually abused by his nephew, Lok Sabha election candidate Prajwal Revanna, were distributed ahead of the elections and accused Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar of a conspiracy.

The former CM had also tried to discredit the Special Investigation Team (SIT) set up by the Congress government on April 28 to probe allegations against Prajwal of sexually abusing several women following videos allegedly implicating him , making the rounds on social media.

Kumaraswamy said his name and that of his father HD Deve Gowda should not be taken or associated with the explicit video clips case as the Revanna family is separate, Shivakumar pointed out and asked, “Then why is he (Kumaraswamy) worried about the matter?” This has nothing to do with him? Why is he speaking after he has already said that action should be taken in accordance with the law and the guilty should be punished?”

Asked about the allegations that the Congress was behind the distribution of the pen drives, Shivakumar said, “Kumaraswamy is making sure the BJP gets things done, he is behind everything, let the investigation take place.”

Reacting to JD(S)’s protest against him, Shivakumar said, “You cannot sleep” without mentioning his name
