Missing Kansas City woman Alyssa McMurry found dead in Lee’s Summit

The Kansas City, Missouri Police Department says a death investigation is underway after a woman reported missing in KCMO was found dead in another metropolitan area city. Police said 23-year-old Alyssa McMurry was last seen around 8 a.m. on May 13 in the 4100 block of Tracy Avenue in Kansas City. Family members reported McMurry missing and said they were concerned for her safety and well-being. She was last seen in a silver 2012 Buick sedan. Police said McMurry’s body was found in Lee’s Summit, Missouri on May 17. Medical examiners recently confirmed her identity. The Jackson County, Missouri Sheriff’s Office has opened an investigation into McMurry’s death. An official with the sheriff’s office said no foul play is suspected at this time, but the coroner’s office has not yet determined McMurry’s cause of death.
