Strong to severe storms possible today

SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) – Happy Friday! Today is a KSLA First Alert Weather Day as there is a risk of severe weather for Friday. The Storm Prediction Center has issued a 2 out of 5 severe weather risk and we will be closely monitoring the storms as they move through ArkLaTex. The biggest danger is the possibility of damaging winds with a small chance of large hail. While the chance is low, as we saw yesterday, that doesn’t mean zero. Temperatures will climb to the high 70s to low 75s today.

Stormy weather should clear from late morning to afternoon on Friday, before more storms move in in the late afternoon or evening. The main dangers will again be hail, strong winds and heavy rain.

Unfortunately, the very active pattern will continue through the weekend, and more thunderstorms are possible on both Saturday and Sunday. Temperatures will rise, reaching highs near 90 on Sunday, with high humidity. Daily thunderstorm chances will continue into next week, with thunderstorm frequency perhaps decreasing a bit midweek. Highs will be around 90 each day, but humidity will remain high, making it feel hotter at times.
