Person arrested after allegedly attacking police officer in Beloit | News

BELOIT, Wis. (WKOW) — An officer was attacked while on duty Wednesday afternoon, Beloit police said.

At around 1:30 p.m., officers responded to a call about an unwanted person near the 800 block of Oak Street. A man aggressively attacked one of the officers, police said.

Police Chief Andre Sayles said a gun was fired during the altercation and neither officers nor the suspect were injured. The man was arrested without incident, police said.

“We commend our officers for their quick and professional response to a potentially dangerous situation, ensuring the safety of everyone involved. This incident reminds us of the unpredictability of police work and the courage our officers demonstrate every day,” said Police Chief Sayles.

The incident is currently under investigation.
