GBI arrests Oglethorpe man in child abuse investigation

The GBI has arrested and charged Edvardo P. Johnson, 32, of Oglethorpe, GA. He is charged with two counts of cruelty to children, two counts of reckless conduct, and two counts of selling alcohol to anyone under the age of 21. On Tuesday, May 6, the Montezuma Police Department and Macon County Sheriff’s Office requested the GBI’s assistance in investigating a child abuse case.

The investigation shows that Johnson forced two underage girls to drink alcohol until they became sick. The minors told their parents what happened, which led to a forensic interview.

Johnson was booked into the Sumter County Jail, which houses Macon County inmates.
