Several suspects arrested in connection with the double shooting in Cartersville, police said

ATLANTA, Georgia (Atlanta News First) – Police say several suspects have been arrested in connection with two related shootings in Cartersville.

Cartersville police said the first shooting occurred on April 23 in the area between Lee and Walker streets. Three suspects were arrested in connection with that shooting, including Ronald Michelle Osburn and MaKayla Ann Tanner.

According to police, the second shooting occurred on May 12. Early that morning, officers responded to gunshots in the Stokley Street area.

They said officers recovered numerous shell casings from several weapons and found a vehicle with multiple gunshot wounds on the driver’s side. The driver and passenger “were spared serious injuries,” police said.

On Tuesday, Cartersville police said their investigators and agents from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) had determined that the two shootings were related. They did not provide further details.

As a result of the investigation, seven other adults and a juvenile – whose identity remained unknown – were arrested and charged for their alleged roles in both shootings, police said.

Deon Shaquille Burton, Jesus Deshawn Williams, Jeremiah Keith Lambert, Joseph Kennemore, Zakavious Slocum and Jaylen Reece Sisson were each arrested on two counts of aggravated assault.

Naudia Renee Carter was arrested for hindering the apprehension or punishment of a criminal.

The suspects are being held in the Bartow County Jail pending a bail hearing.

Cartersville police said they were assisted by the GBI, the Bartow County Sheriff’s Office, the Bartow-Cartersville Drug Task Force and the United States Marshals Service.

The investigation into the shooting is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Cartersville Police Department Criminal Investigation Division at (770) 387-5690.
