Malome sentenced to 15 years in prison for raping 6-year-old girl in Mokgoloboto village – Tzaneen Voice

MOKGOLOBOTO – A 28-year-old male defendant has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for raping a six-year-old child in Mokgoloboto village on January 31, 2019.

The minor was at home with her nine-year-old cousin and the accused, presumably an uncle of the victim.

The accused, who was also 19 years old at the time of the incident, raped the victim in his bedroom. A 9-year-old cousin caught his uncle raping her and immediately informed his mother.

The accused remained in hiding until he was caught on June 26, 2019. Sergeant Mulungwa left no stone unturned and ensured that a 28-year-old accused was denied bail until he was sentenced to 15 years imprisonment in the same court on May 21, 2024.

“I applaud the excellent investigative work of Sergeant Mulungwa as he continues to eliminate criminals who endanger the lives of vulnerable women and children in our society,” said Limpopo Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe.
