Biddeford man killed in Saco tractor-trailer head-on collision

The accident that occurred Friday on Route 112 remains under investigation.

SACO, Maine – The identity of the driver who died in a head-on collision with a tractor-trailer on Route 112 in Saco on Friday has been released by emergency responders.

Douglas Emmons, 64, of Biddeford was fatally injured Friday morning when the car he was driving likely crossed the center line and entered the path of an oncoming tractor-trailer, causing the two to collide head-on, Saco police said in an update Tuesday press release with.

Emmons was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to Saco police, Emmons was driving on a license that was revoked due to an “unfavorable medical condition.” However, there was no indication in the news release whether the alleged medical condition contributed to the crash, which remains under investigation.

The road in the area of ​​the accident was closed from around 9 a.m. to around 1:30 p.m. on Friday after the scene of the accident was cleared.

Maine State Police and Buxton Police and Fire Departments assisted Saco Police, Fire and EMS at the scene.
