Rape: Minor rape and forced conversion; 1 held | Kanpur News

Kanpur: A 16-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a man who befriended her after keeping his religious identity secret in Kanpur. The defendant is said to have mixed sedatives into the survivor’s soft drink and sexually abused her. He even filmed the act and later blackmailed her to make the video viral. The girl, a resident of Kakadeo police station, claimed that she befriended a man who introduced himself as Ankit Thakur on Instagram in April 2023. With the help of another girl, the man allegedly called the survivor to a hotel in Beconganj on the pretext of getting her a job and raped her. The girl later discovered the identity of the accused and protested. The accused then started forcing her to convert and marry him by threatening to make her videos viral. DCP Central RS Gautam said that the accused has been arrested and investigation is underway in the case.
