A middle school student was arrested by the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office after he was found to have created a “hit list.”

STPSO officials were notified Monday evening (Nov. 6) after a student at a Madisonville area middle school reported to school staff that another student had created a “hit list.”

This student, a 14-year-old male, was issued a summons for LRS 40:1B Menacing on Tuesday (November 7) and was released to a parent to appear in court pursuant to a custody agreement.

“We will continue to work with our schools to investigate any threats to our schools and the students who attend them, and enforcement action will be taken as necessary,” said Sheriff Randy Smith.
