First Baptist Church of Houston expands Sienna campus to meet community needs

To help accommodate Missouri City’s growing population, First Baptist Church of Houston is undergoing an expansion of its Sienna campus.

Founded in 1841, the church has a long history of love and service for the city of Houston and now has four campuses.

Church locations:

“Sienna is one of the fastest growing planned communities in America,” said Campus Pastor Malcolm Marshall. “There are a lot of new houses being built and people moving in. Because the community grows, the church grows, and we ended up having to add an additional service because no church wants to turn people away. But it was a reality we faced.

In order to accommodate this growth and continue to welcome new people into the church, more space has become a necessity. The expansion will triple the size the campus currently has. Instead of seating up to 200 people in the existing worship center, services will accommodate up to 600 people.

The new facility is expected to be completed by the end of summer. In addition to the increased capacity of the worship center, the new space will also include a large children’s area with multiple Bible study classrooms and worship rooms and other activities, an outdoor green space to connect with friends and neighbors and a large main home. with a dedicated event space.

Offered services:

  • In person: every Sunday at 8:30 a.m., 9:45 a.m. and 11:15 a.m.
  • Online: every Sunday at 9 a.m., 11 a.m. and 5 p.m.
  • MidLink: special services offered every Wednesday evening during the school year

Once the new facility is completed, the church hopes to become a resource for Siena and use the space to serve the community. At its core, First Baptist Church of Houston wants to proclaim the Gospel throughout the Houston area.

“Prayerful consideration preceded our church leadership’s decision to put down roots in the neighborhood,” Marshall said. “Being a neighborhood church means we really have to be in the neighborhood. We chose this location with the goal of serving the community,” Marshall said. “It’s been a joy to see people really rally around this.”
