Cyclist killed in crash in Shenandoah County

SHENANDOAH COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — A bicyclist is dead after police say he was struck by a motorist in Shenandoah County on Wednesday.

According to Virginia State Police, the accident occurred at the intersection of Old Valley Pike and Maple Lane on Wednesday, May 8, at approximately 1:20 p.m.


The bicyclist, identified as 53-year-old Rex A. Catt of Shenandoah County, was reportedly attempting to cross Old Valley Pike at Maple Lane when he was struck by the driver of a southbound 2024 Kia ​​Seltos. According to state police, Catt died on the way to Shenandoah Memorial Hospital.

This crash remains under investigation by State Police.
