Missing Persons Unit Renewed for Season 3 by Fox

EXCLUSIVE: Fox has given a pickup date for season 3 Alert: Missing Persons Department. The renewal of the procedural drama starring Scott Caan and Dania Ramirez was expected.

In order to make filming more cost-effective for series producers Sony Pictures Television and Fox Entertainment, alarm will remain in continuous production, moving from the strike-shortened second season to the third season, whose episode count is still TBD, I understand. There’s another advantage to filming seasons 2 and 3 back to back: Fox will have new episodes of the series in case production is interrupted by an IATSE strike this summer.

There’s no word yet on Fox’s other standout drama series. The cleaning lady. As Deadline has reported, things are also looking good for a renewal.

Alert: Missing Persons Department takes place in the Philadelphia Police Department’s Missing Persons Unit (MPU). Each episode features a search for a missing person led by Detectives Jason Grant (Caan) and Nikki Batista (Ramirez). Together with the MPU team, their task is to find the missing or abducted people and reunite them with their loved ones.

In Season 2, the MPU team settles into their new office at headquarters, where Jason and Nikki meet their new boss, Inspector Hollis Braun (guest star Gil Bellows), who wants to keep a close eye on the team, especially the unpredictable Jason Grant. Jason brings in his old friend to help with the case: master hacker Wayne Pascal (Alisha-Marie Ahamed), who he worked with in Afghanistan.

Adeola Role and Ryan Broussard also star.

Alert: Missing Persons Department reaches an average of 3.9 million multiplatform viewers, up 233% from Live + Same Day. While the drama’s linear ratings declined year over year, streaming viewership on Hulu saw an uptick, boosting the series’ overall ratings.

Carla Kettner serves as showrunner and executive producer Alert: Missing Persons Department, which is produced by Sony Pictures Television and Fox Entertainment. Jon Cowan, Brandon Sonnier, Brandon Margolis, Sean Hennen, John Eisendrath, Jamie Foxx, Datari Turner and Brad Turner also executive produce.

The finale of the second season of Alert: Missing Persons Department airs Tuesday, May 14 at 9 p.m. on Fox.
