Israeli military police arrested ten soldiers from the Sde Teiman detention camp to investigate allegations of torture of prisoners in the Gaza Strip.

In response, clashes broke out between investigators and soldiers of the accused unit in the Naqab camp (Negev).

The soldiers reportedly refused to cooperate with the military police.

Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir condemned the actions of the military police and called the arrest of the “heroes” in the Sde Teiman camp in the Naqab “very shameful”.

Knesset members of the Religious Zionism party also visited the Sde Teiman camp to support the accused soldiers.

According to the Israel Broadcasting Authority (KAN), ten Israeli soldiers brutally beat a Palestinian prisoner from Gaza in Sde Teiman prison, causing him serious injuries.

According to recent reports from Palestinian, Israeli and international human rights organizations, torture in this prison has led to the deaths of dozens of Palestinian prisoners from Gaza.

KAN described the military police’s investigation into the detention conditions of a Palestinian from Gaza in the Beersheba detention camp as an “unusual incident.”

Since the start of the Israeli army’s ground offensive in the Gaza Strip on October 27, thousands of Palestinian civilians have been arrested, including women, children, health workers and members of the civil defense authorities.

The Washington Post reported on widespread violence against Palestinians in Israeli prisons based on interviews with former Palestinian prisoners, NGO representatives and autopsy reports.

In addition, human rights organizations report a serious deterioration in conditions in overcrowded Israeli prisons and widespread violence.
