Evening storms in Kansas: Severe weather warning for the Goodland area

Goodland, Kansas – Residents in Goodland and the surrounding area should prepare for severe thunderstorms tonight. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Goodland has issued a weather advisory, predicting a 20-40% chance of showers and storms moving in from Colorado, with damaging winds being the main threat.

According to the NWS, the storms are expected to begin between 5 and 7 p.m. MT. Temperatures today will reach highs of 97 degrees F, with winds from the south at 10 to 20 mph and gusts up to 30 mph. Sunny and breezy conditions will prevail in the afternoon before the storm arrives.

The forecast for Sunday continues the trend of hot weather with highs between 35 and 39°C. Winds will shift to the west-southwest at 8 to 24 km/h. While most of the day will be sunny, there is a 15 to 20% chance of thunderstorms in the late afternoon.

The heat will continue until Monday, with temperatures rising to 40°C. Winds will calm down a little, blowing from the north at 8-16 km/h, with clear and sunny skies. High temperatures are expected to continue throughout the week, with temperatures above 38°C forecast for Tuesday and Wednesday. Thursday could improve slightly, with highs of 34°C.
