Iconic Olympic Games event suspended for two days as terrible rains claim first Paris 2024 victim

The men’s street skateboarding competition at the Paris Olympics has been suspended until Monday.

This came after the opening ceremony on Friday evening was hit by terrible weather.

The event was originally planned for today.

However, the rain that also marred the opening ceremony has now claimed its first victim at the Paris Games.

World Skate announced the news in a statement.

It states: “Due to adverse weather conditions overnight and following a meeting with all relevant organisers this morning, the decision has been made to postpone the men’s street skateboarding competition at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games to Monday 29 July.”

At the postponed event, the preliminary rounds will begin at 11:00 am (BST).

The best eight participants of the four preliminary rounds make it to the final.

The medal competition will then take place at a later date at 4:00 p.m.

The women’s competition, which is scheduled to begin tomorrow, hopes to avoid a repeat.

In skateboarding, there is also a park event at the Olympic Games.

The women’s and men’s competitions begin on August 6 and 7 respectively.

The five greatest Olympic moments of all time

While Team GB has no interest in a medal in the road race, it is represented by two competitors in the women’s park race and one in the men’s park race.

They are Sky Brown – who became Britain’s youngest medallist in Tokyo three years ago – and Lola Tambling, both 16.

Andrew Macdonald is Team GB’s only medal hope in the men’s park event.
