One dead after fire in attached garage of Buffalo Grove home

One person died following a fire Monday in a garage attached to a home in Buffalo Grove, authorities said.

Buffalo Grove firefighters responded to the home in the 600 block of Woodhollow Lane before 10:45 a.m., authorities said.

The fire was extinguished and an unidentified person was confirmed dead at the scene, according to village spokeswoman Molly Gillespie.

Firefighters focused most of their attack on flames emanating from the two-car garage. The front of a sedan and an SUV parked in the driveway were charred, the siding of the two-story home was melted and smoke appeared to be spreading everywhere, authorities said.

It was not immediately clear how the fire started, but more details are expected as the fire department’s investigation continues.
