LEGAZPI CITY – Albay Governor Edcel Greco Lagman on Monday suspended all outdoor and water activities due to heavy rains and the effects of the southwest monsoon in the province.

In a warning, Lagman advised the public to avoid crossing the river and low-lying areas as swelling and flooding were expected.

Fishermen using small sea boats have also been asked not to venture out to sea.

He said local authorities could carry out local evacuations, especially in areas prone to lahar disasters, floods and landslides.

The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) Southern Luzon issued a yellow rain warning for Albay around 11 a.m., meaning heavy rains could trigger flooding in low-lying areas.

Pagasa said moderate rains were also expected in Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Sorsogon, Catanduanes, Masbate and Marinduque in the next few hours. INQ
