Fox involved in incident with dog tests positive for rabies in Hampton

HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) — The Hampton & Peninsula Health Department has notified Seaford residents that a gray fox infected with rabies was involved in an incident with a dog on Friday, officials said.

The incident occurred near Claxton Creek Road.

Anyone with information about contact with this animal (bite, scratch, or contact with saliva through open wounds or eyes, nose, mouth) should contact the Peninsula Health District Environmental Health Office at (757) 594-7340. Contact also includes direct contact between your pet and the rabid animal.
