Suspect dead after self-inflicted gunshot wound: BPD

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) – A suspect who led police on a chase died late Thursday night from complications from a gunshot wound.

According to police, officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop in the 1900 block of Tulare Street. The driver allegedly fled and a chase ensued.


According to police, the vehicle came to a stop in the 2500 block of Pacific Drive and the driver fled on foot.

Officers set up a perimeter around the neighborhood and received assistance from Air 1 and members of the Unmanned Aircraft Systems teams.

The suspect was found with a gunshot wound in the backyard of a residence in the 1400 block of Camino Primavera. Emergency medical services arrived and the suspect was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to police, officers did not fire their weapons at any time during the incident.
