Report released on accident that killed off-duty Pigeon Forge firefighter Aaron Huss

KNOX COUNTY, Tenn. (WATE) – A preliminary report from the Tennessee Highway Patrol reveals more information about the motorcycle crash that killed an off-duty Pigeon Forge firefighter on Sunday.

According to the report, Aaron Huss19, was traveling on I-40 when the accident occurred around 8 p.m. According to the report, Huss’ 2008 Honda B60 was the only vehicle involved in the incident.


As the motorcycle was traveling westbound near mile marker 404.2, it lost control and overturned. According to the report, Huss was thrown from the motorcycle and came to rest under the guardrail. The motorcycle reportedly continued to slide, striking a guardrail before reentering the lane and eventually coming to a stop.

The report does not state what the cause of the crash might have been.

The Pigeon Forge Fire Department issued a statement Wednesday along with details of arrangements for Huss’ funeral.

“Sometimes people can walk into our lives in an instant and change them forever. For the Pigeon Forge Fire Department, that person was Aaron Huss.” The fire department wrote in part: “Aaron was more than a colleague; he was a beacon of passion and dedication in our ranks. From his early days as a volunteer to his time in the recruit academy and throughout his career as a firefighter, Aaron was a model of unwavering commitment and integrity. His love for the fire service was palpable and his enthusiasm was contagious.

“Our deepest condolences go out to Aaron’s family, friends and loved ones, and we stand ready to support you during this difficult time. Please keep Aaron’s loved ones in your thoughts and prayers as we remember and honor his remarkable life and service.”

The fire department will pay Huss honors at his funeral.
