Wanted fugitive arrested in Duchesne County

FRUITLAND, Duchesne County — Duchesne County Sheriff’s Office officials arrested a wanted fugitive in Fruitland last week.

According to a press release, Duchesne County authorities were notified Friday by another law enforcement agency that Pohiva Fatafehi ​​may have been in the area to avoid arrest.

The press release further stated that there were three arrest warrants against Fatafehi.

Authorities managed to locate Fatafehi ​​​​through conversations with several residents of the area.

A short time later, police were able to arrest Fatafehi ​​​​and his girlfriend Meliame Angilau without incident.

During the police investigation, it was found that the two individuals were “in possession of methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, identification papers of several other Individualand several counterfeit pieces of equipment,” the press release states.

Fatafehi ​​was wanted in Springville on charges of kidnapping and burglary. Both individuals were booked into the Duchesne County Jail where they were charged with theft, forgery and drug offenses.

Fatafehi ​​was later turned over to the custody of the Springville Police Department and booked into the Utah County Jail.
