Two-vehicle accident causes oil to spill along Crawford County state highway

(WJET/WFXP) – Pennsylvania State Police in Corry were called to the scene of a two-vehicle accident earlier this month that spilled oil onto the roadway.

The accident occurred on July 9 at approximately 5:43 a.m. on State Highway 27 near an unnamed road. State police released the accident report on July 15.

According to PSP Corry, the driver of a Ford F-350 was traveling west when he crossed the center line and entered the oncoming lane while a Sterling Distributor truck loaded with oil was traveling onward.

The driver of the F-350 was able to avoid a serious collision by swerving to the right, but was still struck on the driver’s side, causing both vehicles to leave the road and strike a railing.

Sterling’s oil distributor also tipped over, causing oil to spill along the road. Workers later closed the road to traffic while Crawford County Hazmat, PennDOT and the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection cleaned up the accident scene.

The driver of the F-350 was taken to Titusville Area Hospital with minor injuries and received a traffic ticket, while the driver of the Sterling Distributor was not injured.
