Death in Cushing, Maine under investigation – NECN

According to police, an arrest has been made in connection with the ongoing investigation into a death in Maine.

Maine State Police said their Major Crimes Unit is investigating a death reported Friday in Cushing. They said evidence technicians were at a River Road address Friday and Saturday to conduct interviews and search the crime scene.

Cushing, a city of about 1,500 residents, is located in Knox County, south of Camden and Rockland.

The victim’s body was taken to the Augusta Medical Examiner’s Office, where an autopsy will be performed to determine the cause and manner of death and the person’s identity, state police said.

Police said Mark Gagne, 41, of Cushing, was arrested Friday and charged with hindering apprehension and desecration of a corpse. He was taken to the Knox County Jail and is scheduled to appear in court Monday.

The investigation is ongoing, state police said. More details will be released as they become available.
