Cycling association threatens fan with lawsuit after frightening incidents during Tour de France stage

The incident occurred during the 14th stage of the ongoing Tour de France.

The professional cycling association CPA has threatened to take legal action against a fan following an incident involving one of its riders during the final stage of the Tour de France.

On the 14th day of the Tour de France, which took place on Saturday, the riders traveled 151.9 kilometers southeast of Pau to Saint-Lary-Soulan.

The stage winner was the Slovenian Tadej Pogacar, two-time Tour winner and current wearer of this year’s yellow jersey as leader of the overall standings.

But in the final stages of the race, a frightening incident occurred involving the 25-year-old when a fan ran onto the track and threw what looked like a bag of chips in his face.

Although Pogacar pushed the bag aside and was able to continue his race, the fact that his safety was at risk at high speed – and that an object was thrown in his face – infuriated cycling fans.

Below you can see footage of the incident.

Fans immediately called on the tour to take action. Although there has been no statement yet, the official Twitter account said: “In a world where you can be anything, don’t be that stupid guy.”

In another incident later, the same fan waved his hand near the handlebars of second-placed rider Jonas Vingegaard, who eventually finished second behind Pogacar.

The tour’s reaction was preceded by a post from CPA President Adam Hansen, who said his association would “gladly” take legal action against the fan.

He said on Twitter: “The CPA will happily take legal action against this guy for what he did to Tadej Pogacar and Jonas Vingegaard.”

“This is disrespectful and will not be tolerated.”

SPORTbible has asked CPA Cycling for comment. The Tour de France and ASO declined to comment.
