Six people die and 19 are injured in Russian attacks on Donetsk Oblast

Russian forces carried out several attacks on Donetsk Oblast on July 12, killing six people and injuring at least 19 others, the Ukrainian State Emergency Service reported.

The town of Lyman in Kramatorsk district came under fire, seven people were injured. Private houses and at least one private vehicle were destroyed.

In the Pokrovsk area, four people were killed and nine others were injured as a result of the shelling, including a child.

At least two people were trapped under rubble in the town of Kostiantynivka after heavy shelling and a fire in one of the buildings. At least three other people were injured. During rescue operations, rescue workers recovered two bodies from the rubble.

After taking the city of Avdiivka in February, Russia is carrying out heavy attacks in several sectors of the Eastern Front, including in Donetsk Oblast.

In early July, Ukrainian troops withdrew from the Kanal district of the embattled town of Chasiv Yar in the region.

The commander-in-chief of the Ukrainian armed forces, Oleksandr Syrskyi, said on July 2 that fighting in recent weeks had been particularly fierce around the town of Toretsk, about 25 kilometers south of Chasiv Yar.
