Devastating revelation after woman’s death by train, disturbing details ahead of de Minaur showdown: Australia news live

Concerns remain over Alex de Minaur’s fitness as he prepares for the biggest game of his career.

The Australian number one faces a showdown with seven-time champion Novak Djokovic on Wimbledon’s Centre Court for a place in the semifinals of a Grand Slam debut.

But the 25-year-old is suffering from a hip injury that he sustained while winning the last point in his fourth-round match against Arthur Fils.

De Minaur is due to appear in court in London on Wednesday afternoon (Thursday morning, AEST).

On Tuesday, however, he did not practice on either Wimbledon’s indoor or outdoor courts. It’s possible he hit somewhere else, but there are only a limited number of indoor courts in the area and constant rain made outdoor practice impossible.

His team have been tight-lipped about his fitness status, but their immediate reaction to the injury, including that of his girlfriend Kate Boulter, was telling.

De Minaur tried to downplay a possible injury, saying it was “mostly a little scare”.
