Live updates on Israel and Gaza: Israeli forces attack Khan Younis, Gaza City and Rafah

Israeli forces said on Monday they had killed another Hezbollah leader in southern Lebanon.

An Israel Defense Forces aircraft “attacked and eliminated Hezbollah terrorist Mustafa Hassan Salman in the Qlaileh area,” the military said in a statement.

The Israeli military accused Salman of being involved in the “planning and execution of numerous terrorist attacks” against Israel.

Last week, Israeli forces announced they had assassinated Muhammad Ni’Mah Nasser, one of the highest-ranking Hezbollah commanders killed since the group opened fire on Israel in solidarity with Gaza on October 8.

Attacks between Israel and Hezbollah forces continued on Monday.

The Hostages and Missing Families Forum has asked Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to postpone his trip to the United States at the end of the month and remain in Israel to “give priority to the final negotiation of a hostage release.”

The current plan is for Netanyahu to address a joint session of the U.S. Congress on July 24.

“For nine months, 120 innocent men, women, children and the elderly have been held captive by Hamas in Gaza,” the Hostages Families Forum said in a statement on Monday. “These hostages endure unimaginable horrors on a daily basis. Every moment spent in captivity is a risk to their lives and well-being.”

Israeli forces attacked Rafah, Khan Younis and Gaza City, the Israel Defense Forces said on Monday.

In recent days, Israeli troops in Rafah have “eliminated more than 30 terrorists who posed a threat to IDF forces,” an IDF statement said.

In the areas around Khan Younis and Gaza City, “two operational launch pads aimed at Israeli territory were hit by the Israeli army,” the statement continued.

In the last 24 hours, 40 people were killed and 75 injured in Gaza, the Hamas-run Gaza Health Ministry said on Monday.
