Police investigate targeted shooting at busy Alabama intersection

Birmingham police are investigating a targeted shooting at a busy intersection Thursday afternoon. It occurred around 2:15 p.m. in the 2500 block of 7th Avenue North. The victim was shot at while driving, crashed the gray Chrysler 300, got out and ran a short distance before crashing, police said. The man was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Birmingham police are investigating a targeted shooting at a busy intersection Thursday afternoon.

It happened in the 2500 block of 7th Avenue North around 2:15 p.m.

The victim was shot while driving, crashed the gray Chrysler 300, got out and ran a short distance before crashing, police said. The man was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

According to police, at least 50 cartridge cases were counted.

“It was a real shootout,” said Officer Truman Fitzgerald.
