Four arrested in raid on gambling hall in San Juan

SAN JUAN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Four people were arrested during a raid on an illegal gambling building in San Juan.

On Wednesday at 6 p.m., investigators with the Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant for illegal gambling at Quinta Ximena (4600 block of S. Stewart Road in San Juan).


Inside, authorities found 77 broken slot machines containing an unknown amount of money.

Four employees were detained and later arrested on the following charges: operating a gambling establishment, possession of gambling machines/equipment, promoting gambling, engaging in organized criminal activity.

Those arrested were Frida Sanchez, 21, Fatima Hernandez, 21, Jordi Alejandro Gonzalez, 33, and Fernando Arteaga, 47.

In addition, Gonzalez was also charged with fleeing arrest on foot and resisting arrest.

This is an ongoing investigation.
