Charges filed over fireworks incident in Waterloo

Waterloo Regional Police have filed charges against a man in connection with an assault investigation in Waterloo.

On July 1, 2024, at approximately 10:30 p.m., a female victim was walking on Central Street when a man shot at her and struck her with a firework. A male victim was also attacked.

On July 3, 2024, officers from the WRPS Patrol Division arrested the man involved after he attended the Central Division in Kitchener.

As a result of the investigation, the man, a 37-year-old from Kitchener, was charged with assault with a weapon and assault.

The defendant is scheduled to appear in court on August 7, 2024.
