Lancaster County man dies after riding mower accident

EAST HEMPFIELD TOWNSHIP, Pa. (WHTM) – A Lancaster County man has died after first responders found him under a riding mower outside his home in East Hempfield Township on Wednesday, May 8.

According to the Lancaster County Coroner’s Office, 72-year-old Arthur Best was pronounced dead at his home in the 1900 block of Oreville Road shortly after 1 p.m

The coroner says first responders received a rescue call and when they arrived they found Best at the bottom of a steep slope on the property with the riding mower on top of him.

When coroners arrived, the mower was nearby, according to the office.

The official cause and manner of death are pending and an autopsy is planned.
