Arrest in connection with the stabbing in Taunton on Paul Bunker Drive

TAUNTON (WBSM) – An arrest has been made in connection with the Taunton stabbing that occurred Tuesday afternoon on Paul Bunker Drive.

Cye Key, 24, of Taunton was arrested and charged with burglary, assault with a dangerous weapon (two counts) and possession of a Class B substance (crack cocaine).

Key was arraigned in Taunton District Court on Wednesday morning and ordered held pending a dangerousness hearing on a date to be determined.

In addition, there were arrest warrants against him for previous incidents.

On Tuesday, July 2, at approximately 1:20 p.m., police responded to a report of a stabbing on Paul Bunker Drive. Upon arrival, officers found three Taunton men – one 19 years old and the other two 21 years old – injured.

The three victims were taken to area hospitals for treatment. Key was also taken to a hospital and treated for minor injuries.

The investigation revealed that Key allegedly entered an apartment armed with a hammer and a large knife and began attacking the victims.

The investigation also revealed that the incident was the result of an argument the night before.

Key was previously sentenced to five to seven years in prison in 2019 for shooting a store clerk during an attempted robbery.
