Deputy surveyor suspended for alleged bribery in Chittoor

Tirupati: Chittoor district deputy revenue officer P. Srinivasulu has ordered the suspension of deputy surveyor S. Saddam Hussain of Santhipuram mandal on corruption charges. The matter came to light on June 27 when a farmer filed a complaint against the deputy surveyor, accusing him of demanding Rs 100,000 for completing the survey work. On receiving the complaint, the deputy revenue officer sought a written explanation from the accused officer. After examining the reply, an inquiry into the matter was ordered.

The decision to suspend the deputy surveyor was based on recommendations of the Survey and Land Records Department, in accordance with AP Civil Services Act 8 and GO MS 102 Revenue (SS2). The suspension order requires the deputy surveyor to cooperate with the investigation and to remain at the mandal headquarters at Santhipuram during the investigation phase. In addition, JC Srinivasulu has directed the mandal surveyor and village surveyors working in the local secretariats to process survey-related applications promptly. The orders emphasise the importance of efficient service delivery and are aimed at ensuring that the survey work is completed without causing inconvenience to the public.
