Court: Man sentenced to 20 years in prison for sexually abusing a child in Mashantucket

NEW HAVEN, CT — Christian Lorig of East Haven was sentenced to 20 years in prison for sexually abusing two children under the age of 10 in Mashantucket, Branford and East Haven between 2015 and 2019, New Haven District Attorney John P. Doyle, Jr. announced.

The 36-year-old will be sentenced to probation after 10 years in prison and 10 years of sex offender probation, Doyle said. The victims and their families were present and spoke at the sentencing hearing in New Haven Superior Court last week.

On April 3, 2024, Lorig pleaded guilty to two counts of second-degree sexual assault and two counts of endangering a minor.

The cases were prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Alexander C. Beck and Deputy United States Attorney Melissa R. Holmes with assistance from Inspector Sean Faughnan.

Doyle expressed his “thanks to the Mashantucket Tribal Police and the East Haven and Branford police departments for their investigative efforts, as well as to the state Department of Children and Families and the Yale-New Haven Hospital Child Abuse Clinic for their assistance in this case.”

“The New Haven District Attorney’s Office is grateful for the partnership our office has with the police and child welfare agencies. All are committed to stopping these cruel acts against the most vulnerable and holding perpetrators of our children accountable,” said Doyle.
