Bills John Murphy to step away from play-by-play duties

Longtime Buffalo Bills radio announcer John Murphy will step down from play-by-play duties ahead of the 2024-25 season, the team announced Thursday.

Murphy is leaving the door open to participate in game day broadcasting in a different capacity.

In an interview with WBEN radio, Murphy said he was ready to move on to a new chapter in his life.

Murphy spent the last 35 years on radio for the Bills, including 16 years as a color analyst (1984-1989, 1994-2003) and the last 19 years as a play-by-play announcer (2004- 2022).
