Apparent incident of road rage leads to midday shooting in Plaza Midwood

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) – An apparent incident of road rage that led to a shooting in Plaza Midwood on Monday was caught on video.

The situation occurred around 2:45 p.m. at the intersection of Central and Pecan Avenue near Harris Teeter.

The woman who recorded the video explained what she saw. She said a man behind the driver of a black sedan honked his horn for nearly a minute and eventually threw water out of his window onto the vehicle. Eventually, she said, the driver of the black sedan got out of his car and squirted his water bottle at the honking driver.

The woman then began filming. Her video shows the driver of the Toyota getting out of his car and hitting the sedan in front of him with a baseball bat. As the driver was getting back into his car, a shot was fired and the bullet could be faintly seen bouncing off the top of the Toyota he was getting into.

According to police reports, the bullet went through the windshield. So far, no one has been arrested or charged.

No further information has been released.
