At least 5 dead and 41 injured after Russian missile attack on Pokrovsk

At least five people were killed and 41 injured in a Russian ballistic missile attack on the city of Pokrovsk in Donetsk region, local authorities said on June 24.

In a Post on TelegramGovernor Vadym Filashkin said Russian forces fired two Iskander missiles at the town, destroying one house and damaging 16 others.

“This is one of the biggest enemy attacks against civilians recently,” Filashkin added.

The number of injured rose from 34 to 40 at 4:45 p.m. local time, the regional newspaper reported. Office of the Prosecutor reported.

Filashkin reported around 6 p.m. local time that five people were killed and 41 injured in the attack.

Among the injured are said to be three girls aged nine, eleven and 13 and a twelve-year-old boy.

The injured were taken to the Pokrovsk intensive care hospital, the governor said.

Previously, Filashkin had reported on June 24 that a Russian attack on the City of Toretskalso located in Donetsk Oblast.

The Ukrainian armed forces reported last week a Increase in Russian attacks near the city of Toretsk after a “long lull in fighting” in the region.

In his latest post, Filashkin said that there was “not a single safe place left in Donetsk (Oblast)” and called on people to evacuate away from the front lines.

Toretsk, the strategically important city less than eight kilometers from the front, had about 31,000 inhabitants before the start of the large-scale invasion.
