Large garbage fire in Hillsborough triggers police investigation

On Friday morning, there were reports of garbage being dumped in the parking lot of the former Cost Cutter.

HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — A trash fire in a parking lot on Route 206 in Hillsborough has sparked a police investigation.

Hillsborough Police Lt. Scott W. Mc Carthy confirmed to Patch on Monday that “the investigation into the June 21 garbage/trash truck fire #2024-1049 is currently ongoing.”

Residents and drivers on Route 206 reported seeing a large pile of trash in the parking lot of the former Cost Cutters at 390 Route 206 around 5:30 a.m. Friday.
