COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) – The heat will reach impressive levels this weekend and early next week, with temperatures expected to reach over 100 degrees!

Headlines of the first warning

· Maximum temperatures will be just over 35 degrees, with more sunshine on Friday.

· This afternoon there is a chance of isolated storms again.

· Temperatures will rise above 35 degrees by Saturday and Sunday, with heat index values ​​in the low 38 degrees.

Summary of the first warning

Good morning! Our high pressure system will move away from the Midlands today, bringing more humidity and higher temperatures. Highs will rise a little further to just over 35 degrees, with some isolated thunderstorms on Friday afternoon.

A low pressure system is approaching the southeastern United States with a nearly 50% chance of passing through. Impacts further inland are unlikely from this system as it attempts to fight its way through an area of ​​drier air on its way west.

As we head into the weekend, the high will move further away, bringing more heat with it. Highs will reach the mid-90s on Saturday and Sunday. As humidity increases, there is a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms for our afternoons. Heat index values ​​will also be above 100 degrees.

Next week we will see similar skies, but Monday through Wednesday will be even hotter. Feels like temperatures will be around 40 degrees or higher every day during this period. Every day during this period will be a First Alert Weather Day.
