Another UTSA football player was arrested for aggravated robbery, records show

SAN ANTONIO – Another University of Texas at San Antonio football player was arrested and charged with suspected aggravated robbery, jail records show.

Corey Lucius, 19, was arrested Monday on two counts of aggravated robbery and booked into the Bexar County Jail, authorities said.

Lucius’ arrest came just four days after another UTSA football player, Nicholas Ryan Brown, was taken into police custody on charges of aggravated robbery.

A UTSA spokesman responded to a request for comment on Lucius’ arrest Monday evening.

Records show Brown and Lucius have faced similar charges in connection with a Feb. 3 incident, but it is unclear whether the crimes are related.

The charges are considered first-degree felonies.

According to records, Brown has since been released on bail from the Bexar County Adult Detention Center.

San Antonio police told KSAT on Saturday that Brown’s arrest Thursday night stemmed from an incident unrelated to the aggravated robbery charge.

While a tow truck was towing an illegally parked vehicle in front of an apartment complex in the 12000 block of Engelmann Drive, Brown went outside to prevent the tow truck driver from taking the vehicle, according to police.

While Brown was trying to track down the tow truck, the truck struck one of Brown’s feet, SAPD said. Brown suffered non-life-threatening injuries but was taken to a nearby hospital for further treatment.

Authorities said the tow truck driver returned to the scene to cooperate with SAPD’s investigation. Brown was later released from the hospital with minor injuries.

During the course of the SAPD investigation, the department found information regarding two arrest warrants for Brown for suspected aggravated robbery out of Bexar County.

A UTSA athletics department spokesperson said that as a result of his arrest, Brown has been suspended from the team “indefinitely” while the athletic department gathers more information.

KSAT has requested arrest warrants for aggravated robbery for Lucius and Brown.
