Court hears how accused sexually abused 18-year-old girl in Lagos

Special Sexual Offences Court in Lagos, Ikeja

Justice Rahman Oshodi of a Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court in Ikeja yesterday heard how accused Lukman Alade allegedly made cuts on the private parts of an 18-year-old girl and sexually assaulted her.

In his testimony at the retrial of Alade, investigating officer DSP Morayo Ogunsokan described to the court how the accused had made sexual advances towards the victim.

The witness was called into evidence by prosecutor Bukola Okeowo and told the court that on September 12, 2022, at about 4:30 p.m., she received a complaint from the survivor of alleged sexual assault.

The prosecution witness further told the court that immediately after the case was reported to her office, she recorded the voluntary statement of the survivor, while the statement of the accused was recorded tentatively.

She said the survivor told her at the station that the accused sexually assaulted her on September 11, 2022, at around 4:40 p.m. after she rejected his advances.

The witness said: “The survivor told me that she was on her way to pick up her phone when the defendant approached her. He made sexual advances to her, but she bluffed him.

“She further told me that she later found herself in the defendant’s room without pants. Her pubic hair was shaved and the defendant had made cuts in her vagina and legs. The defendant put a ring in his finger, inserted the same finger into her vagina and then sexually abused her.”

The judge adjourned the hearing to May 3 for continuation.
