We have disturbing news from Houston, Texas, where an employee at an Am Law 100 firm was shot and killed after acting as a good Samaritan at a local McDonald’s.

Lewis Brisbois employee Jeffrey Limmer was fatally shot shortly after trying to de-escalate an argument at the fast food restaurant. Local ABC affiliate KTKR has more details:

According to investigators, a customer was upset with employees about his order and demanded a refund. The victim, 46-year-old Jeffrey Limmer, attempted to calm the customer, who then turned his attention to Limmer.

The fight spilled outside and Limmer pushed the customer to the ground, investigators said. The customer then went to his car, retrieved a gun and allegedly shot Limmer before he fled the scene in an early 2000s blue Ford pickup.

Limmer’s sister, Jennifer Thomas, said she wasn’t surprised her brother tried to help during the tense situation. “He always wanted to fight for the little guy,” she said. She went on to call her late brother “a good Samaritan who tried to do the right thing.”

The man who shot Limmer is still at large. Anyone with information about Limmer’s attacker is asked to contact HPD’s Homicide Unit at 713-308-3600 or speak to Crime Stoppers anonymously at 713-222-TIPS.

We here at Above the Law would like to extend our condolences to Jeffrey Limmer’s family, friends and colleagues during this difficult time.
